Randy Cavanaugh directs The Golf Studio’s instructional programs. He
has 32 years of experience as a tournament and teaching professional
including positions at two of the World’s Top 10 - Winged Foot and
Seminole. He has been a Class A Member of the PGA of America since 1982.
Following a 3rd round defeat in the ’76 US Amateur Championship,
Randy competed on PGA Tours in the US, Europe, South America and Asia.
From 1981 until 2003, he worked in the metropolitan NY area and has
served as Head Professional, Director of Golf and General Manager at
three exclusive golf clubs.
Randy’s father, Gil Cavanaugh is a
Life Member of the PGA and played the PGA Tour in the late 1950’s. He
continues in his 53rd season as Professional Emeritus at Jupiter Island
Club in Hobe Sound, Florida. Randy credits his dad and several other
well known instructors for the playing and teaching success he has
enjoyed. He notes that his teaching incorporates knowledge gained from
a lifetime among other teachers and players of the game. “I have
extensive experience as a player. As a teacher, I have worked with
students of all ability levels, from beginners to touring
professionals. And, while the equipment and how we instruct have
changed noticeably, most of what really matters in a successful golf
swing remains unchanged since basically the Bobby Jones and Byron Nelson
era.”
“I am particularly excited about the instructional
technologies we have available to us in The Golf Studio. These tools
make it easier for me to teach and fit equipment, but more importantly,
they shorten the learning curve for our students. We are able to
accurately capture and analyze all three essential factors; your swing
motion, club head data at impact, and the resulting ball launch data.
This enables us to make fact based decisions before suggesting swing and
equipment changes. It also allows our students to see actual
measurements of their improvement.”
Listed below are gentlemen
that I wish to thank. They all personally have had significant influence
on my understanding of Golf. Some were good friends of my Dad. Others
continue to be so. Many are great friends of mine. All contributed their
time and patience to assist my endeavors in the Game.
Thank you. I will pass it on…
